Ingredients:

➡️For the beef strips marinade:

  • 350g beef medallion steak, cut into strips
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese five spice
  • 1/2 tsp white ground pepper
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 tsp muscovado sugar
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • Sea salt flakes

➡️For the rest of the dish:

  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled and finely chopped
  • 150g baby potatoes, cut in half
  • 1 shallot, peeled and sliced
  • 1 red chili, sliced
  • Rapeseed oil
  • Ground salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • Handful of finely chopped coriander (for garnish)

Method:

  1. In a bowl, combine the beef strips with all the marinade ingredients, except the vegetable oil. Mix well and add the vegetable oil at the last minute. Ensure the beef strips are coated with the oil.
  2. Heat an oven-proof frying pan over medium heat with some rapeseed oil. Fry the new potatoes until they are golden brown. Seasoning with ground salt and black pepper and push them to the side of the pan, leaving space in the center.
  3. Add the marinated beef strips to the center of the pan.
  4. Create a space in the pan for the chopped garlic and shallots. Add a bit more rapeseed oil if needed, and fry until fragrant. Then, mix them with the beef strips.
  5. Add the sliced bell pepper to the pan and mix everything well.
  6. Transfer the pan to the oven preheated to 180°C with the fan on. Roast for about 20 minutes.
  7. Remove the frying pan from the oven and mix in the chopped red chili and coriander. Your dish is now ready to serve.
